Magic FAQ

This FAQ is for the Sci-Fi episode entitled “Master Terminal”. If another story applies this same magic, you will be referred to this page. If a story has a different lore, please see the lore for that story! Thank you!

Our world holds what I consider as traditional magic. It uses the power of elements and is tied strongly to nature. An example of this is a simple invisibility or cloaking spell. This type of magic would use camouflage like a chameleon instead of simply making a person or item disappear.

What are the elements that can be used in magic? Earth, wind, water, fire, and soul / spirit

What do these elements do? These are just guidelines, use your creativity to come up with other uses and a dice roll will help determine if they are successful

  • Earth: Defensive magic used to create things like armor, cause disruptions like earthquakes, and can use things like rocks and boulders to create walls.
  • Wind: Offensive magic used to create weather based magic like storms, heat, tornadoes etc
  • Fire: Offensive magic used to create fire based spells and actions like fire balls or simply heating a surface.
  • Water: Defensive magic used for healing and water based magic like ice or freezing spells.
  • Spirit: This is one’s connection to the animals in nature. Harness strength, speed, adaptability, etc.

Is magic infinite? No, a character’s source of magic does deplete as it is used and will refill over time or with an item if found. In this universe magic based skills will be limited to 3 available in one game day. Days will be marked as chapters (a system I will explain more in depth in another post), and your magic usage will be tracked by me. Ex: If you use a spell that would require pulling from multiple elements, each element counts as a spell, so if you use 3 elements in a spell, you can use no other magic for that day. This also caps the magic combination to 3 elements only. If you only use 1 element in a spell, then you have 2 remaining for that day and so on.

Are there magic items that can be used by non magic characters? Yes. Items can be enchanted and given to other players. However, all enchanted items will be limited to the 3 uses per day and must recharge.

How many elements can I use in an enchantment? The maximum of 3 elements will be applied to these items as well.
